will a ps2 guitar hero guitar work on a ps3?
hi, my local hmv is having a sale, and their ps2 guitar hero is £20 whilst their ps3 one is still £59. if i bought the ps2 one and a second hand copy of the game disc, will it all work ok on the ps3? as far as i can see, the guitars look exactly the same.
PS2 GAMES are not compatable with newer PS3s, but the CONTROLLERS are. The old controllers are not affected by whether the ps3 plays the games or not. Same goes for the PS2 guitars.
You need a USB adapter for them though. The PS3 doesn’t have a socket that you can plug PS1 or 2 controllers in. Even the PS2 wireless guitar has a wireless receiver that needs to be plugged in. I got one a year or two ago from play.com for a few £.

Any similar product should work though.
You can actually even use PS1 controllers with PS3 games but it probably has to be one with analog sticks.
Of course, if you were to use an older controller (not for guitar hero, so I guess it doesn’t matter to you) then you won’t have the ps3 controller ability of motion sensitivity.
A bonus of having this kind of usb adapter is that you can use your trusty ps2 controllers for PC games, which is what I originally bought it for.
