Do you think that the Guitar Hero series and assorted games like it are killing the “in-ness” of guitar?
What I mean by “in-ness” is just the popularity of the instrument itself, much like every generation has a popular instrument associated with it, like the roaring twenties it was big bands, romantic era the piano. What i’m really saying is that, with the guitar’s popularity in culture, are games like guitar hero and some guitar shredders (the name Yngwie comes to mind) are overdoing it and ruining the appeal of it or solidifying it?
I dont think guitar hero is killing the “in-nees” of guitar, i think its making it more popular and interesting to people who never even thought of playing guitar. Even though more people are likely to play guitar hero then learn how to play guitar, the “in-ness” of guitar will never leave.
